Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - The Orioles wrapped up their workout portion of spring training yesterday with the same number of questions that existed when pitchers and catchers arrived two weeks ago.

They haven't settled on a fifth starter or a starting shortstop. They have vacancies in the bullpen and on the bench. All-Star second baseman Brian Roberts still could be traded, and one of their best pitchers, Adam Loewen, still needs to prove that he has recovered from serious elbow surgery and is ready to become a middle-of-the-rotation starter.

The Orioles will play 29 Grapefruit League games, starting today when they open their exhibition season against the Florida Marlins at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. Here are some issues that will need to be addressed during that time:

'Weightless Flights' Kick Off At Moffett

The company that offers "weightless flights" at Moffett Field told NBC11 Friday that four seats opened up for this weekend's missions.

Zero Gravity Corp. out of Las Vegas charges $3,500 per person per flight. It's not clear if they got any takers.

Corporation officials said additional flights will be scheduled later this year.

B-schools may soon lose monopoly over strategic management lessons

KOLKATA: He is a professor and a gentleman. In a career spanning over two decades with leading companies and top B-schools including IIM Calcutta (IIM-C), he has taught and consulted top corporates on strategic management. But Ranjan Das is now about to change course.

He plans to take the concept of strategic management out of the elitist confines of B-schools into every corner of the country. On a sabbatical from IIM-C since November 2007, he has set up The Strategy Academy (TSA) — a first-of-its-kind initiative.

Universal: We're staying with HD DVD

Microsoft is now offering high-def downloads via its XBox 360 gaming console while Apple just added them to its Apple TV device. Additionally, Netflix and several other companies are planning to offer HD download services. But ZDNet's technical director says the companies are just using "marketing" techniques to make it sound like the downloads are really HD. "Marketing will push the nicer sounding “720p" aspect of the video but they don't tell you it's way too compressed to offer good video fidelity. Blu-ray has a maximum bit-rate of 40 mbps while HD DVD offers 28 mbps. Over the air broadcasts can be up to 24 mbps though they're typically between 16 to 20 mbps," he says. Ou adds: "Under most normal circumstances, the low bit-rate 720p so-called 'HD' video will be inferior though many companies are betting that consumers won't know any better.
